A genuine smile and an honest chat with the person behind the Käsetresen at the grocery store, or simply the warmth of someone appreciating you for listening… these and many other encounters throughout our lives can stick with us, leaving either a momentary or a lasting trace. I see that same coincidence in my closest relationships. Even having siblings is wild to think about: what are the odds of being dropped into the exact same timeline? It’s a shared history that feels completely random yet—at least for me—totally meant to be, one that I feel profoundly blessed to experience.

In this ongoing project, that exploration takes on a fluid, immersive life of its own. I translate these connections into a tangible, atmospheric landscape where souls drift through currents of light, energy, cosmos, and water. It is a visual mapping of those brief touchpoints and energetic lifelines that bind us to one another, showing that even when we feel entirely adrift, we are navigating the exact same journey.

I explore these thoughts primarily through cyanotype, as the stencils leave a lasting imprint within the chemical solution, much like the imprints we leave on other people and this world. I love the way the bright sun and the darkness required to treat the paper have to come together, mirroring the nature within our own lives. The process leaves so much room for play and interpretation, yielding an unpredictable outcome that is also similar to how we might engage with or encounter a stranger on any given day. I see so many parallels in this approach; painting over the cyanotype prints and adding dynamic layers makes this combination the perfect way to explore humanity.
